Italian turkey burger

The teriyaki turkey burgers were so delicious that I was quite anxious to try another flavored turkey burger recipe. I like Italian food and seasonings so the Italian turkey burger seemed like a natural choice. The recipe was good as I made it but will make additional adjustments in the future.

Adapted from

  • 1 1/4 pound lean ground turkey(93/7)
  • 1/3 cup onions finely chopped
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp fennel seed
  • 1/2 tsp table salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup basil, fresh, torn or shredded
  • 4 sandwich thins or high-fiber wraps

Get ready for easy: Mix the first 6 ingredients until combined and about half of the basil. Once combined, make 4 equal sized patties, aiming for about 3/4 inch thick. Broil or grill for 5-7 minutes on each side. I used a little non-stick spray and pan on the stove top on medium-high for the same amount of time. Remove from cooking device when done and put on a sandwich thin or in a wrap. Top with lettuce, tomato and remainder of basil(don’t put all the basil on one patty, divide evenly).

I would add more seasonings in the future. Maybe some oregano and more fennel or garlic. I would also add more basil to the patty.
