Rosemary and olive oil bread

Maybe I didn’t do something right, but this bread turned out very dry to me. Perhaps I should have dipped in olive oil and eaten it, instead of trying to make sandwiches. Either way, it has a nice flavor and will try to make it again before tossing out the recipe.

Recipe adapted from All Recipes:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons crushed dried rosemary
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour

Pour the water into the pan of a bread machine, then sprinkle in the yeast and sugar. Let the mixture stand for a bout 10 minutes in the bread machine until a creamy foam forms on top of the water.

Sprinkle in the salt.

Then add the olive oil, thyme, garlic powder and rosemary.

Then add in the flour.

Set your bread machine to 1-1.5 lb loaf and light crust. Wait for bread to make itself.

It did taste quite delicious with a healthy roasted red pepper hummus smear.
